There are numerous posts here concerning that very problem, do a little searching and reading........
The one problem that comes to mind is the chip next to the processor, try pressing down on that while powering up, sometimes that chip is poorly soldered......

Yes, that's the solution use a small tip iron and carefully resolder the legs.....works best if you have a magnifying lamp to see what you are doing.....

I have very similiar issues but the power light on my 420 stays "on" when plugged in and will not shut off until it is unplugged. There is no video or sound, it is like the TV doesn't ever recognize that the receiver is connected. Any suggestions would be helpfull. Thanks.

Reflashing the TSOP and or eeprom may fix that.

I tried reflashing the TSOP but not the eeprom. It was doing this before the mod was attempted on the receiver. I will tri reflashing the TSOP and the EEprom as suggested.

I noticed that my 420 receiver also starts blinking at nite whenever i turn it off.
