I Have Been Working On A Drd 430 Rg With A Buffered Jtag And All Connections Seem Good. I Get Up In Link Mode But Get Error When Trying To Erase.
I Used Unwink Format For Connections But Attached Power As Per Milli As Well As Fp And Bfr Connections. I Tried Passive Trap As Per Milli But Get Ff As Data Response.
When I Try To Flash I Get Error @ Offset 0x7fc8f3b2. Skinerd Or Any Other Guru Please Help..

Why would you combine two different instruction sets?? Unwink and mili's??
Applying power to the flash chip is danderous and I'm a litle surprised that mili's info shows it, while unwinks doesn't......unwinks info, although the trace cut is not where I recommend will work for all types of flashes and 430 type IRDs.
Which flash chip do you have??

3.3 power was applied to the fp pin as per mili. unwink shows ground from jtag but milli does not.
5.0 power applied to jtag and jtag second ground as shown by milli.trace also cut.

i tried to find your instruction set but could not. i am going to shorten the kynar from my jtag and try again shortly

Still didn't say which flash chip you have........

All is needed to get my pics is to ask....I gaurantee the trace cut I do is much easier than unwink's or mili's, and I apply 3.3v the way unwink shows, basically, and if you actually read unwink's info you will understand why that is the preferred method, (and why putting anything dierctly to the flash is not a good idea),best part is it works with all 3 flash chip types.....

m28w chip. do you have an old post of your mod method?

if you applied volts to a m28w chip following mili's info, which is for an Intel, you may have already ruined the flash chip.....
I'll look up my posts showing write enable/protect later, I am having to type one handed cause I am baby sitting..a 4 month old weasel worm, and it's hard to type holding her..

thanks for your response. i have studied these along with unwink and will be cutting under the board on the pin 2 crossover. unwink refers to pin 7 for ground but your postings refer to pin 1?
i will reair trace that i cut at rn13104. i hope that using 5.0v to my jtag didnt mess things up. is there any way to know in advance if my chip is screwed?

if you cut where I show, removing the board is not nescessary and it's really easy to do.
Where I show for ground is correct for the write protect, pin 1 is also ground.
if you used the 5v to power your jtag, that should be ok....
If you can detect the device but not the flash, probably flash is bad....the m28w does not pin out the same as the Intel, my way doesn't matter which flash chip, it uses the amplifier circuit to enable the flash chip, same as the IRD does when it does a write, and it's safe....

i have redone layout but scratched enough away under rn13104 to apply 3.3 to transistors. i was removing board to do dolby mod as well. since my trace was already cut at 13104, i didnt recut but changed my supply to jtag. i still get sector error when i start to erase. should i shorten my kynar to jtag to 3" since mine go up to 6". i read in earlier posts that this could be a problem?.
i read ok when i power to link and change the chips to match the m28w before i go to dev panel to unlock as per your earlier posts. any other suggestions?

did you unlock the sectors?? they must be manually unlocked if it is a STM28W chip........
Start jkeys and go straight to dev panel, unlock the sectors......and then go straight to flash programming and erase, any other steps will cause the sectors to re-lock and you'll have to start over.......

thank you skinerd you are the greatest. unlocked and programmed. lovely chipset for my first 430.
do i write byte address 0 byte 37 for dolby mod?

don't really need 37, but it will work, 37 enables all functions, including VCR and RF remote, which you don't have, they will show up in the setup menu, that's all. If I remember right, all you need is 30, or was it 03, heck if you want to experiment try 30 first and then 03 the as a last resort 37, or just put 37 and be done.
