Have a 420 with problems. It started with blinking l.e.d. Fixed that problem(somewhat). Now, it powers up, but after about 10 min, it starts to flash again, though on/off much more slowly than before, OR if I put a card into the reciever, it kills it right away.
i have replaced card slot reader, L23701 & 702, L17301 & 302, L23603, along with cr14108 and q14101 & 102. All were popped, except perhaps the transistors, not really sure how to check them. Is it continuity between e and b or c they are no good?
Don't want to write off this reciever yet, as it still searches for signal and asks for card.
It is not a menu message either, checked that. Just about out of patience though, ready to try 240V lol!

check all the diodes, and voltage regulator, in the low volt side of the power supply, something is very weak.....

You can check transistors using the diode check function of the meter. You should get a reading (gain) of between 400 - 600. Do this across c-e, c-b, e-b. Reverse the test leads and you should get nothing. If you get 000 at any point, it is shorted and bad. You will get 000 when you reverse the leads also. Be aware that some transistors (very few) are good with a reading of 006. BTW, I can buy these receivers for $40, but what fun would that be. Happy testing :)
