I'd say one tried to copy the other. The front view of the new Vette really resembles the Viper. I'm like you...I wish they'd updated the Viper's mechanicals like they did...and left the cosmetics alone. It had a unique appearance that stood out in a crowd.
New Vette's ZO6 option will have 500 horsepower, like the Viper. For some reason, having a 200 MPH street car is a little like having a 14 inch peter...great for bragging rights, but really not very practical or useful.
Easy for me to say, since I'm not in posession of either one :D

why get a car that can be out-slalomed by the mighty M3? i don't see the point. not a fan of american rides. just my .02

Personal taste, M5...a 'Vette has a certain stigma and status that no M3 will ever replace. And, the Corvette is finally a pretty good car, after years of being strictly mediocre.
Doesn't diminish the M3's qualities, however...wow, what a rush..you wouldn't think a normally aspirated 6 banger could perform like that.
Had a chance to buy Ted Nugent's personal M5 about a month ago..2001 model..but at 55 grand, I'll pass. Brother Ted is cool, but not that cool. :)
