6000 8psk question

I picked up a 6000 receiver. I hooked it up to my dish 500 and i could only pick up 110 and odd transponders. (forget 119 and even transponders on 110).

I changed it over to B*V and it didnt pick up any signal at all...
(B*V firmware I used was CNAA, the code on the board was CNAD, Does this make a difference?)
I went back to D*SH with the original firmware and no signal either.

I figure that the cable input is dying or dead...
If i got the 8psk module would it override the cable input?

any input would be greatly appreciated...
