if your looking into it go to modchip.ca and have a look at what they offer, do it yourself to pre modded xbox's.

I have done MANY X-box mods from TSOP Flash to the new Xenium Ice Chip.
The place I found the best file selection is on Mirc. on Efnet #xbins.
The Xbox in my opinion is the best gaming system ever to hit the streets.
I only wish that SocomII was ported for the Xbox.
My latest Mod includes this.
Ver 1.6 Xbox
Xenium Ice Chip (white)
M-8 Blue 6.7 Bios (My own)
Xbox Xtender
4 250 Gig Drives
God this system rules!!!!

Not a bad price. I only charge $40 if it is TSOP, and $50 for Chip, you supply the chip.
600 games? Must be those Roms that you can download from Xbins. My opinion, they are just a waste of Hdd space. There is no way there could be 600 Official Xbox games on there. Average 2 GB game and I have yet to see a 1200 GB Hdd.
ITS 600 GAMES 1 XBOX GAME BUT GAMES FROM OTHER GAME SYSTEMS LIKE N64 OLD GAMES FROM OTHER SYSTEMS YES THEY DOIN IT SOFTMOD WAY IT BE REAL NICE IF U CAN TEACH ME

I'd definitely like to learn the "how to's" dealing with the xbox...I have gotten roms from file sharing, but I feel like I could really get into this since I have only a few xbox games....been playing since the atari days though..

Seriously, I know what's been going on xbox wise. TSOP is the way to go unless you give a sh!t about Live. All the hacking benefits remain, but the Live is out of the equation.
Mod chips are fine, but you're playing a waiting game. You can tiurn off most mod chips, BUT any hard drive hacks can be, if not already, detected by newer games looking for the modifications. There are tricks, but its a matter of time.
Safest bet is to ignore your hard drive and go with a mod chip.
I've hacked 4 xboxs, 2 for me and 2 for friends, 2 of those were TSOPs. Only 1 was a v1.6, soldering pain in the ass, but easier than a PS2. In all cases I replaced thre HD. Currently I've got a v1.6 with 120gig Seagate HD (get a quiet HD!!!) with an Xecuter 2.6 (X3 is newer and better)
If you can get a 1.0~1.5 and don't care about Live, TSOP is awesome.
Everything you need to know is on www.xbox-scene.com.
Apparently thr guy who complained about it being unorganized hasn't read the forums here. All mod chips are advertized with XBox version support (and there's an Xbox version guide), and v1.0~1.5 TSOP flash guides got me an many others going within a couple of day's effort. (assuming you've never done it before)
Read the tutorials section and check the forums after the tutorials.
You'll be fine. :-)

Oh, forgot.... IRC Efnet #xbins (there's a #xbins access guide on xbox-scene) is a good place to search for apps, but don't depend on everything being modern. I waited 4 weeks for XO-Mame to get posted latest in #xbins. Alt.binaries....xbox is a better place to watch for bios replacements and apps like XBMC, etc...
Note, M8 and X2 are known to be good for TSOP, I haven't heard of X3 bios on TSOP. Course I haven't been reading the forums since Halo 2, which I bought. I only use my hacked XBox for XBMC DVR play back, cool apps like xlinks, and homebrew, well worth the price. Definately cool for those of use that like to hack the beaten path.

Easiest way I found to mod xbox, is use the james bond game and save, to crash xbox, load evolution x, delete drive C, paste UXE files in, done modded xbox, works on all models
UXE is a package found in #xbins

Xbox-scene does not allow people to discuss hacking the xbox....(WTF) They will ban you if you ask. So why are you telling people to go over there and ask a question to get banned:eek:
Is there something I dont know??

I use a smartxx v2 with xbox xtender wich allows you to boot from up to 3 different drives . this allows me to run xbox live if I boot from my first and untouched original drive with chip off. the other 2 drives run my games.
