Well it's done with the micro on the receiver processing commands from the DN data stream.

So even if you did get the parts all the current freeware for programming cams will not work for the setup you are thinking of. You will have to write your own software to work with the onboard micro in the reciever. You will also have to create some sort of interface to communicate with the micro in the receiver.

While I think it could be done I'm not sure it would be worth it to save 30-60 dollars that a programmer would cost pre built or for the parts to DIY it.

You can get schematics for iso programmer on this site and others. I found two recently. Its pretty complicated unless you have skills.

Anyone? Not likely. Most people start throwing the remote at the vcr when trying to set up a timed record. :-)

Sounds like a fun project though. Might want to start with the schematics at dssftp.com for the DN receivers. Don't think the models you listed are included but several models that are should have similar components in the card section. Might be able to canablize some of the IC's to use in it.
