View Full Version : Can't reprogram TSOP

I have a DP301, Version 10 receiver that I was using with an ATMEGA. I backed up the TSOP's and EEPROM as everyone said, but didn't use the digital locks. Was running just fine but got hit by the ECM. Only receive the "DISH instruction channel". Now the problem... I reconnected my JTAG but now the receiver is not recognized. I know its not the connection points because I "hard wired" the JTAG to the circuit board. Anyway no dice in getting into the JTAG port. Is my unit "toast"? I didn't worry about the digital locks at the time because I thought I could always reload the unit in event of an ECM. Any suggestions would be much appreciated (before I toss the receiver).

Thanks!

I tried both... neither will be recognized by the receiver. I tried plugging in the receiver, then running the programs, running the program and then plugging in the receiver... many different combinations, but no dice. They just read like there was nothing connected. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Could be your jtag or your connections(backwards)i've done it myself:o
use another jtag and try again....
Give it a shot before writing off the receiver.

I would have thought that... but I "hard wired" my JTAG to the circuit board and successfully downloaded the TSOP info. Never touched or moved anything. Just plug back into the parrallel port to reload and nothing. Is it possible for the ECM to destroy the JTAG port? Will the TSOP lock prevent this? Just a few questions before I head out to Wally-World to buy another receiver.

Thanks!

are you getting this message when you try to erase the eeprom?
i have never heard of an ecm disabling the jtag port before?I hope we are just missing something here, otherwise there is going to be a lot of receivers going onto a shelf.

have you tried with your card in the receiver backwards, some receivers have a micro switch in the slot, any card would work

I was hoping that was the trick... Tried that this afternoon but still nothing. Tried it with the card upside down and with the card in the proper way. I think the JTAG port is fried. If this is unique to me, that is probably the only answer. I received my TSOP lock from mili this past week so I will begin work on my replacement receiver tomorrow. I will let you know if I can extract the box info. If not, then something went screwy with my computer.

If there is a new ECM that burns the TSOP,there are alot of people that are gonna wish they had a lock on...

Lets just hope its the computer:)

You know, I failed to ask but is that jtag buffered(own voltage)a quad mode is good but the success rate on a good write is very low from what I have read10%,try a buffered Jtag before the ird is thrown overboard,it may not be pooched just yet.

OHM:)

No... perhaps that was my mistake. I went with the "simple" resistor type JTAG interface. Could have blown the ports? Just a thought...

Have you already fixed it? Noticed the last post
was over a week old. I would be happy to
throw out a few ideas if you still need them.

No... just given up for awhile. Sometimes if you just sit back for awhile, a new idea comes along. Still no luck with reading the JTAG information. Thanks, and I am open to any suggestions.

First a bit of info.

From what I read you are working with a
DP301-010 receiver.

A simple Jtag.

Jkeys program. Should be version 2.0.1 for a 301-010.

When you have the receiver hooked up and powered
up do you get the unknown device message in jkeys?
Or do you get the basic info? boxkeys ect.

Does the green led on the receiver turn on
when you have the receiver plugged in and
hooked up to the computer?

Does the receiver still work on just channel 101
when hooked up to a dish? If it does there is a
excellent chance of saving it.
