I have never worked on Sat recievers before, but I'm great with computers over all. I made the mistake of buying Star choice a few years ago. Now the ever increasing rates have driven me here. This is the best site I have found for information. I have done most of the required reading and I feel I have a good grasp of the lingo and the theory. My main question is not the standard newbie question of what system is best or method. My question is "I can't find AVR boards on mili's site. Do you sell them" Looking at all the info I have so far I believe the cheapest option for me is 1. sign up for a free expressvu system and commit to $40 per month for 2 years (same amount I'm paying for star crap) which will get me a 3120 system. Then buy a AVR board and JTAG and use a old compter kicking around and set up an emulation. The second question does anyone see a cheaper way of getting started. Note I do want some paid programming for backup when a ECM comes down.

My dealer doesn't sell AVR anymore either. I would suggest going Atmega.
