Hi all,
New to Dish but tested DTV awhile back so "catchin up" was a little easier.
Wanna test with 3900, can or can you not lock the eeprom and Tsop-any problems with doing that? Ive heard yes and no.
Is 3900 a good box to test with? anyn issues I want to emu with it and am trying to learn about that here. I never did emu with DTV either so its all new to me. How do you update from dish without getting a hit if you have to unlock it?
Also put a socket on my generic card loader to switch crystals back and forth-is that all that needs to change to program dish?
and lastly is there NO way to unlock/unloop a dish card yourself nowdays-used to do it to DTV cards all the time with extreme HU-being new I am still trying to figure all this out. Sorry for so much at once, will break it down next time

Gonna pick up a 3900,rom3 w remote for 70.00(good deal?)
getting a JTAG-I could build a simple, but do I need Buffered?
need a max/mel and cable.
have winvu and Cemu which is better?
have computer to dedicate to system as well
let me know if you have any "hot areas" a Newbie to Dish emu should catch up on.
