I'm new to dish I'm not a fast learner but I'm persistant..My ? is what do I look for when a blocker goes down or a reciever gets hit..From much reading I know you'll get the top one channel if reciever gets hit I'm not even sure about that ,but what about the blocker??? and I'm not sure what to do to repair it I think I need to erase in jkeys the epprom then reprogram with the flash I saved in the begening is that correct??? and if th blocker were to go down what would happen and how do I fix it short of reprogramming the whole card with the new blocker......All help greatly appreaciated I'm switching over from dtv and I need all the help I can get

You really need a TSOP and eeprom lock but if your soldering skills aren't up to par then I suggest you erase the ecmed TSOP sector(only one sector) with jkeys and let the IRD reload in the stream. If you need to know what sector just tell us what IRD you are using. That's only if you get ecmed of course. You will know a ecm when you see it. A box will will pop up in the middle of the screen that says "A serious error has been detected with your receiver". The code in the top right hand corner tells you other info. A error with #153 means a TSOP hit. The blocker can't be erased from the stream but it is used to target you with a ecm. If you get ecmed you will need to update to the newest blocker so you will no longer be a target.
The reason why we use TSOP and eeprom locks for Dish is because the ecms that are sent down are sometimes 20 minutes apart and it sometimes takes 24 hours for a good blocker fix. So that means you will be hit 72 times in that period. I don't know about you but I have no intentions of reflashing my IRD 72 times in a year much less over 24 hours.

cableguy,
A coworker of mine wants to get started with DTV (why I don't know) and I don't know anything about it so I don't know what to tell him. Could I PM you with any questions?
