Bare with me folks, very new to this. I just purchased a 2700 receiver, and when I plugged it in it shows Location ID 00000001 (TSOP ECM'd?). Don't have any info saved on receiver (haven't even looked at it yet!). Am I going to run into trouble? From what I have been reading, I need some backup info? Can I just flash the TSOP and receive updates? Please help me understand where I have to go from here. Thanks.

Open up jkeys go to flash programming and erase SA5 only. Then you need to hook the IRD back up to the stream and let it update firmware. Once this is complete reopen jkeys and save TSOP and eeprom for future use. Oh, and some people hate them but I would recomend a lock as well.

Thanks for the quick response Sycamore. One more question (probably a stupid one), how do I know when it has received updates? Will the location ID change, and do I have to have a card in the receiver for it to take updates? (i guess that was two).

Your system info will read 795p for Dish (not sure about Bev) and the loc ID will be corrected. I don't think you need the card in the IRD to update but I always leave the card in. One day I'll try to verify this although I run a lock and I never have to worry about the loc ID 00000001.
