430/450 schematics are not available.......at least as for as I can tell.....
A 430/450 RG has no tip42 or zener like a 420/440 does, and if it did you would not need to change them anyway, if the voltage is where you say it is, 13v - 18v swapping every couple seconds or so, that is perfect and indicates the power supply for the lnb (in this case the lnbp15sp chip) is functioning correctly.
Most likely a tuner section problem, if you are lucky, just a loose connection is all, but more likely it is a bad or failing tuner section.

Almost 100% sure. You have a dead lnbp15sp.
Mrwhite sells them. Extremely difficult to remove it. The bottom of the chip is soldered directly to the board. Even just unsoldering the pins won't do you any good.

I thought that chip was just the power supply chip? Is it the tuner chip? And what's mrwhite's site again?
mrwhitesjtag dot com...
Good luck prying that chip off...If you are able to do it. Let us know how....

just a thought... maybe mount the new chip on top of the old one???

If the volts are 13v - 18v, changing back and forth......... DON"T change the lnbp15sp, it's NOT BAD........

I have bought several lnbp15sp chips, first from Sony, then from mrwhite, as he is cheaper, they are not that hard to change, you just have to get it HOT to remove it....but the problem identified above, with the volts at 13v-18v, indicates a functioning lnbp15sp........unless it won't work with a multidsatellite system, then the built in 22khz generator could be bad.......as it needs both the voltage switching and frequency to change to the additional lnb(s).

I just remembered, some one posted someplace that they were able to cure the SFS problem on a particular 430 that had good signal strength, by changing the crystal in the sat in box, I think he just got lucky, but heck, if you have one to try, try it......

It's built in.....look at the datasheet, available from ST electronics.....can't find it let me know I'll post link.....

I have a Sony A4 that has 22V only and no switching to lower volts. Where is the lnbp15sp located on this unit? It is SFSS, powers up and gets the menu but no signal at the transponders. I apologize for interrupting the poster but you mentioned you purchased the lnb chips from Sony.

Not all Sonys have the lnbp15sp, if it does, it's not hard to find, it's a 10 pin dip surface mount chip, that is physically attached to the board with solder, not just the pins the whole damn chip........
I bought from Sony before mrwhite started selling them, bacause it was the only place I could find them.

I have 2 malfunctioning 430rg's Both I think have lnb chips that need to go.
1. does ghost resets every hour and the lnb chip got hot enough to burn (and blister my finger) 200+F
2. the second IRD SFSS all the time and if you goto dish tuning it reboots. voltage to sat in is a constant 13.05V
First one, new lnbp15 may help, may not, I have one that gets hot too, but new lnbp15 gets just as hot, and still shuts down....
Second one, probably new chip will fix it......but maybe not, conex demod chip switches the lnbp15 and if is not doing that, a new lnbp15 is not going to help.

Probably took out a diode in the main power supply.......

i have seen two major things go in the 430s. One is the lnbp chip and the other is the satlink chip. Both take experiance to remove but both are replacable if you can locate the spare parts.

The big chip behind the tuner.

Lol you better not be talking about the "conexant" chip with like a bunch of pins. Going to need to solder with a sewing needle.
Yep, thats the one. The kkey to removing it and not screwing up the traces is to heat them all together at the same time then just lift it off.

a serach on google will find the part for you. cx24110-11. BTW its the same part thats in the 301 or 3100 receivers for dishnetwork.

If you want to determine if it is an overheating problem get yourself some circuit cooler spray and try to isolate the problem that way. Spray components in the tuner and satlink section area for a start.
