At one time they claimed their mod was better than nozkt, but someone posted that they compared a receiver's flash from one they did to a normal nozkt mod and it's the exact same....
These guys are expensive too, $59 + shipping to have them mod, $99 + shipping for a prom change on an earlier model........
If you take the time to ask politely, I bet Skinerd would do it for about 2/3rd the price, and you will get at least 100% of the support you need from the guy...(hope I'm not out of line skin) Skin definetely knows how this works and will take the time to make sure it's working for you. ... dont bother with nozkt.com unless skin says it's worthwhile...

$59 + shipping is about $70, figuring about $11(average)for shipping, thats way too high......

its really not that bad a price..besides once modified an RCA/Phillips or Sony receiver virtually triples in value..i see them on EBAY and the recylcer selling for $150 modified.
i remember when the RCA303 whgen first modded 3-4 years ago was selling for $200-250...I solde a few at those price levels for people who did not like emulation setups..in the long run it was the best of all solutions and iroccially it still is.
so I think its fair to charge $59 plus shipping and $99 for prom replacement..trusts me the prom replacement in a SONY B3 or RCA102RW is a bitch and in the case of the sony a bit precarious...plus those chips are NOT that cheap..$5-10 each deoending on where you buy them..cheaper if you know where to hunt.
just IMHO

I need the instructions/file for a SAT-B1, and id-discussions will not let me register to get them...if they're even there.

Try doing the mod ur self its definitely cheaper and u don't have to worry about someguy @ his website not returning ur receiver or just screwing u arround.

ID has a long thread on Sony mods............Why can't you register there??
They won't send me a registration email so that I can confirm and 'activate' my account, and they won't return any of my emails. I sent them another email yesterday, making 3 in total now with three attempts to register using different emails and user names....I am getting no response what so ever from them.
It is my understanding that my receiver is just a prom change as M5 pointed out, but I still need the file to put on the new prom and any other details about the procedure. My model has TWO 32 pin prom chips, and I think I have to replace them both if I want to do it. However, they are both already socketed, so there should be no soldering involved. My old sony has been running since Nov. 7 1995 and I have really good luck testing with it.

why do you have to explain to anyone on here? dude, do what you want. free fuckin country. id isn't even stable enough and their server can't even hold up to the amount of new users they are getting these days.

all the sony NOZKT files are also uploaded to the milis file section: free to download
http://www.dssftp.com/filedownload/generate_php/nozkt_mod_files.php
p.s.
you ONLY need to change IC100 if you have the socketed 2 chip model..most B1 and B2's are already socketed, but a few do come with the 42 pin chip, but not many.
change only IC100 and do NOT follow the instructions from UNWINK.com..he suggests de-soldering that 42 pin chip..I have publically stated that is very dangerous to the traces on the motherboard..if you ever come accross such a sony that used a singular 42 pin chip you should ONLY cut it out with tiny angled dikes and install dip sockets for 2 (32 pin chips at IC100 and IC101)..in fact ironcially unwink himself did not follow my instructions and damaged his trace cut on his B2 forcing him to do extra repair time..so my point was perfectly proven..he admiteed that in his documentation, but i think it proves my point that even an expert can damage their IRD if they de-solder 42 pin eproms..best to always cut them out and use 32 pin chips with sockets.
also the B2 firmware works in the older A1/B1, and it is significantly better code with better search features...so you can use the B2 code in a B1 and have better firmware.
so far I have done about a dozen sony's from A1/B1, A2/B2, A3/B3/A4..they are easier to modify than even an RCA303..except the B3's that usually come with a 42 pin chip (about 80% I estimate)..they take 2 hours to modify and are difficult due to miniturization and numerous test pads in close proximity to each other..other than that A3/B3 model the sony's are essentially very easy
the NOZKT patch wwas developed by Fluxman at ID and he deserves all the credit..not me..i'm just lucky enough to own them all.
Thanks for the info sdeens. I hadn't looked at the nozkt download section for a couple months, and I just finished downloading the files. (I should have thought to look again before assuming they weren't there) I haven't looked at them yet, but I think it should be pretty self explanatory with this one.
