you can get the cable at your local radio shack/computer store. The cable is a RS232-C. Let me know if that model is compatable with receiving dish, I'd like to know too.

The fortec star dvb-786V3 fta digital receiver is NOT compatible with al7bar firmware. at least for now, only the Lifetime is.

Just remember that flashing the wrong software to the receiver can kill it.
There is al7bar software for other Fortec receivers but I don't know anything
about it since I only have Lifetime to test. It can be found in Yahoo Groups
under title Fortec.
