Hi,
I have a Dishnet 500 system, (receiver 301) and I would like to catch some other satellites listed in the menu. I am looking to catch some international channels, such as indian/arabic or asian channels. I have two questions:
1) Is this possible with my current card programming, and with current box modifications.. or would I need another type of code programmed on my card?
and 2)
I am going to buy a twin LNB so that I can catch more than 1 satellite. Can i use the twin LNB to catch these other satelites, or can it only be used to catch 119 and 110?
I currently have only satelite 119, and I am not find any international content, or anything too spectacular on it. Would 110 have it?
Thanks allot ! I'm a newbie in this field..

The Dish 500 catches 2 satellites simultaneously: 119 and 110. International channels are mostly, if not exclusively, on satellites 61.5 and 148. If you are on the East Coast 61.5 is best, on the West Coast 148 is best. Both have the same channels.
If you only want to see international channels, you can point the Dish 500 to 61.5 or 148. If you want to see all 3 satellite, you will need a second dish pointing at 61.5 or 148. You now need a switch to combine all those feeds to bring it down with one RG-6 cable to your receiver.

Cool.. I'm mainly interested in Sat # 61.5.. Would it be possible with a twin LNB to point to both 61.5 and 119/110 ? I dont think thats physically possible..
I guess, what I need is some instructions to point my dish to 61.5.. Ie: Do i keep my dish at the same height on my house, or do I have to move it? Pointing in the general direction of 61.5 is kinda self-explanitory, but what angle should the dish be at.. (leaning backwards or forwards.. and to what extent..) If someone has a link to a website that explains this,, that would be a great help.
And this satellite 61.5 will work with my currently programmed card/ird.. ? Thanks allot for the help!

You can only point to 61.5 or 119/110, NOT all 3. You have to adjust the elevation and azimuth based on your location.
Go into your receiver (6,1,1...installation screen that shows all satellites). Enter your zip code, select satellite 61.5, select DISH 300 (instead if DISH 500)...you will now see azimuth and elevation (skew does not matter).
Point your dish in that direction and click on CHECK SWITCH, select TEST. If it finds nothing, adjust your DISH until it catches 61.5
For any card to work, you must have the proper tiers installed. Same card that runs with 119/110 will run with 61.5

Great..
I'll try for that 61.5 bird.. What do you think I'll need to find it.. a compass? =P I think I'll be getting a compass.. To confirm: Azimuth will be the direction the dish is pointing in.. ; Elevation is the height the dish is from off the ground? I was kinda hoping i wouldnt have to move the dish from its current mounting place..
And yes my card is set to catch Sat. 119.. so it should be able to catch 61.5.
Elevation is angle between level ground and the satellite. (straight up is 90 degree, 45 degrees is half way between parallel to ground and straight up). The DISH has markings on the dish holder. For azimuth use compass...90 is East, 180 is South, 270 is West etc

If you can't find bird 61.5 look for 148, they both carry the same programing. If you live on the west cost go for 148. To program you atmeg card you will need the NAwaPom20.jpf Jeepers programing file. There are several versions of it out there but I have not found one that has all the international channles, network, and PPV channels. The new Nap21 file is available but I have not been able to get it to work on my atmeg card yet.
The attached Tier Creator will help you create your international tiers, but watch out...if you add PPV, you will get ECMed..
