This is Canada man !!! It is cool here , no pun intended ...
We had a dss store get raided not to far from where I live , They got all there stuff taken by the RCMP on a Friday and then returned on a Monday cuz they weren't hacking BEV or StarChoice ..
DTV lives in Canada !!

I am a firefighter and when I first started out I went to this place and when I went to pay I opened my wallet and there was my badge , I imediatly said oh shit , no, I am a fireman not a cop ..
The guy in the store said you shuldn't have said that , I said why , he said cuz we do cops for free and give them free cards !!
I blew that one !!! I walk into burning buildings and get zip , cops give out tickets and get free TV , go figure eh !

I was just telling mdeven in an email that P4 cards are 400 bucks here so what we do is go to the states buy an IRD for 49 bucks , pull the card and stick in in your wallet and throw the IRD away ..
You gotta do what you gottta do ...

400 for a P4?? I just saw a posting at tor.forsale.misc for P4's going for 110 CDN. you're still getting a better deal though at 49 US.

Ya , here we got a sat store on every corner and that is the easiest way to buy but also the most expensive ...
It all depends on who you buy it from .. it wasn't a big deal for me to have a P4 but mama is in Atlanta for her work so I might as well get her to pick me one up ... I wanted a DD5.1 IRD but to risky with a electronoc device on the plane so I'll just take the card .. If there is anybody on here from Atlanta , check out the garbage pails , there might just be a little surppize for you ..

A guy I work with picked up a 5.1 IRD with an HU card in Chicago in December. He had no trouble what-so-ever with Canada Customs bringing it back on the plane. They told him as far as they're concerned, it's not illegal to own one. He did pull the card out and put it in his wallet though.

Actually even posession of DTV stuff is illegal if you read the ruling. It is one fucked up situation in Canada. One arm of the goverment does not know what the other one is doing and most don't give a fuck. As to receivers, Please don't tell me you are throwing new ones in the garbage. Mail me and we can work a deal out, there are many who would buy them.

The way the rulling went here is that if anyone that can receive and decode a U.S. signals will be breaking the law , well, why it is still in the courts is because the way it was worded that is you own a TV and live close to the border and you can get say channel 2 from Buffalo well then you are breaking the law , so inturn , anyone in Canada that has a TV is breaking the law ...
It isn't the dish that is illegal it is the TV cuz that would be the decoder and not the antena .. It aint over yet ...
The RCMP don't give shit about DTV , just if you are hacking BEV or StarChoice period !!

Just my 10 cents , 3 cents CDN ...

The "chip" on your card is called an ASIC.... That stands for "Application Specific Integrated Circuit".... It's made for one thing.... To make sure you're authorized to watch TV.... It's not a transmitter of any sort....
Sounds like a pile to me....
I have been wrong once before.... That's why she's the ex-wife....
