okay I have a problem and a question about JTAG Programmer. I have 2700 and I am trying to read the damn TSOP and I can't get it read . trust me I tried like 3 nights straight. everything by the instructions. Parrallel port 378,Fresh batteries,IRD plugged in , Power on when JKEYs running hit detect like 500 times while keep changing the positions. and turining IRD on and off. All I get is the numbers changing from 0Xfffffffff to 0X088f34 things like that. no detection of any thing else. I must've scratched off the pads doing that still no success. Then I got to think that may be JTAGer is bad? I don't know. If anyone has any input please tell me. I would appreciate it so much.

Now the question is I see different products like
CJtag
Quad Mode Jtag
Buffered JTag Adapter

Do you think any of them is better then the reguler JTAG? Would any of this work better and faster? I heard even the JTAG will work I will have to do the same thing everytime I want to read or erase or reprogram. I mean find the RIGHT SPOT :) hehe so let me know folks about this.

For the 2700's, a simple universal non-buffered jtag is all you need. With the IRD upside down, front of IRD facing to the right, place your jtag in the slot closest to pad1. I've included a pic (the pin outs are for a 2800). Just want to show where pad1 is...

So place jtag in slot, power up IRD, then open Jkeys (in that order!) If it does not detect, you need to remove jtag, power off IRD & close Jkeys. Repeat above procedure (in same order) until you get Jkeys to detect IRD.

I don't have on of the "block" type JTags that,if I'm understanding right Chap,is described.I've used one of those before.Correct me if I'm wrong.Mine has a pin holder, about 3/4" long with 5 pins.tabbed on 1 side for catching under the IRD bottom case to hold in place. With this one, using Chapster's pic,the pins go on contacts 2-6.Try those if your JT is similar to mine.
