I'm doing a no-zkt mod on my rca 420 for the first time. I keep getting the 0fffff thing. I'm using a female to male cable to plug the jtag from the pcb to my computer's printer port (windows Me). Before I go nuts trying to figure out if there is indeed a short as it says, whare are the bare minimum wires I need to attach to the ird to establish any kind of communication just so I can detect the receiver?

thanks,

I tried hooking the jtag directly to my computer but keep getting the same thing. I also double checked the wires and rebuilt another jtag. I also tried a different pc with a different operating system. Both printer ports I know work properly. All I have hooked
are the following :
gnd, tdo, tck, tms, tdi and trst. Do I need to hook anything else to get jkeys to read a device?

thanks,

Which OS was on the second computer? My past experience with Jkeys is that it really hates ME.... Kinda likes 98.... Not real fond of XP....

I have 98 on the other pc, but I thought 95,98 and ME were all basically the same operating system with a few slight differences?

It's the instructions from unwink dot com with the pcb from unwink. I actually found out that I had to attach the +5V to the jtag also for a reading but I still get that 0xFFFFFFFF. I also get the same 0XFFFFFFFF even if there is nothing plugged into the printer port. Is that normal?

It's an HP pavillion PIII with windowsMe. I did however go into properties in jkeys and changed the printer port settings and hit detect each time and got the same result.

thanks for help so far,
