Having Trouble With Jtag

I just bought the Quad Mode JTAG reader and when i try reading my ird, jKeys gives me this error saying: Error reading from IRD (DCU Peek) i got a 4900 reciever, i'm new at this so if you can help thanks.

It is a non buffered Jtag unless you bought the extra buffering adapter. Quad is a nice jtag. Make sure you have the computer you are using and the IRD plugged into the same outlet(Circuit) to avoid ground loops between them. Make sure you have the Jtag 3 pins part facing the back of the receiver( Ground pad). Post back what happens, I'll be here a while yet.

I'm doing what you are saying but it still gives me the same error meesage, it give's me the JTAG info but it does not give me my IRD info and I also tried it on my other reciever which is a 3900 and it sill gives me that error message do i need that extra buffering adapter?
