2700 shuts off when inserting card

Hi,
I just bought a 2700 machine off ebay and I am going to start reading about it. However just for the hell of it I plugged in the machine hooked it up and when I stick a rom2 card into it the machine shuts off. What would cause this is the machine bad. The card is very very old. It was pulled from a machine back in 97 or 98 and has sat in my house since then. I am unaware how the card was used prior to this. Any info would be appreciated.

Have you programmed that cam for that ird?

Hook the tv out to your tv and it will tell you some more onscreen about whats up. You can pull the card and should get a info screen of receiver details.

When You Re-Insert Your Card, The Receiver Resets Itself And Stays Off. You Will Have To Turn It Back On. You Will Also Need To Update The Software_Version To The Latest. You Will Need A Jtag For The BoxKeys And Tsop Repair (If You Get ECM'd). To Prevent The Tsop From Being ECM'd, Get A Digitial Lock Installed.
