Switching To The P4 Card

I have read you can put an activation on your card before you swap it out and the tiers will stay on the p4 until they update the tiers. Has anyone tried to swap it out with a 3m on the hu card and if so what were the results of this? Should I try a 3m or just put an activation on there as this is a one time shot? Please advise if anyone has tried this, thanks!

It doesn't matter, card has expired. Guess it's call Dave to activate unless someone else has an idea.......

I have a sub with dave... if I put activate my p4 and put it in the receiver.. will I be able to swap it out and put the hu back in to get the few channels left ??
