With the death of the HU a truly sad event, I have been inquiring to several resources. I am sure this has been mentioned before here on this forum and if it has I apoligize but I feel compelled as a newbee to give some input. I have not been in the hobby as long as many of you and with this shutdown I feel I have been Fu...ed but I am pretty knowledgeable on electronics etc so it's not over yet for DAVE and CHARLIE.. Ok here we go, hope I don't get flamed for this. You probably are aware of the Blackbird box. Now I have been poking around and here is what I got as a response today from someone in the business. I asked how the keys etc are updated in case there is a change which is monthly supposedly. I also understand that Dishnet, DirecTV and others can be veiwed with this box as long as you have the dishes pointed at the correct satellites of interest. More than one dish can be set up and combined to the box to receive all channels upt ot over 1000. Any opinions or suggestions will be taken as per say. I will not be offended in any way by anyone if you believe this wasn't worth posting but I think I had to put my help in too. My question is first which he did not answer all of it and then his response. What do you make of this??

If I wanted to hook up to 4 tv's in the house can one box do it or do I need 1 box per tv?? Also, will this alow me to get all the DISHNET channels along with DIRECTV channels etc....How will the keys be provided to someone who buys this box?? Thank JT. I just wanted to see what people thought. So you think the software stuff with the cable etc is bullshit too....Anyone know about these boxes??? I'm just curious.....

I wouldn't even visit a site that makes those kind of claims. I could be wrong, it's not as if I have seen a 'blackbird' up close, but the description throws about 20 flags that point to bullshit. It's been discussed quite a bit. Do a search for blackbird.

You got a couple facts wrong but these arent a scam, not sure about the sites you posted but the actual blackbird works. They do not work for dave though just charlie and bev. All they are is a free to air reciever with nagra software on them theres also one called the fortect lifetime reciever that does the same thing. Charlie even did a press realease not to long ago on these units they have been out now for a few months. They dont auto roll the keys so you just need to look them up and punch in the numbers with the remote. and the keys can change more than once a month but its really not that big of a deal. There kinda spendy(around 400 us) but should work untill charlie does his card swap. they have no channel guide though gotta manual flip through everything. Can connect up to 4 dishes to them and get charlie bev and free to air channels with them. take this for what ya will I know theres alot of scammers out there and this is my first post here. I know nothing about those sites posted. Best of luck on what ever ya do Im working on getting my charlie set up going atm seems like the best way to go for now. :cool:

They are talking about making auto roll work but as far as ive heard it hasnt happend yet. The boxes are using nagra 1 software and the new yellow cards are nagra 2 so thats why when they do there card swap they wont work but its also possible that they can just update the software to nagra 2 when that happens.

Thanks all for the feedback. I guess I'll have to sit back and wait. I don't have the resources for anymore testing. Thought I had a good thing going when I got into DAVE testing but I got fucked. Lets hope someone out there gets these P4/P5 hacked but from the looks of it, it may not be soon enough. I guess my sub will do for now with DAVE for the basic package. Peace.......
