Consider this all as gambling or playing the stockmarket. You will win some and lose some. Get in on the ground level and ride the wave up. If a hack is released, then expect demand to drive the price up. Last I heard there are 700,000 canadians with HU cards that want their porn back!!!!

My uncle just purchased a setup from ebay (Not knowing the HU was dying...I know..dumb).

Anyways, it just arived today, and he got 2 recievers, 2 D1 Cards and a dish for $91.....And get this, the D1 cards work and are already activated...So not only did my unvcle get an awesome deal, he also has more channels then me right now..haha

FIRST LET ME SAY NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN, BUT YOU CAN TAKE AN EDUCATED GUESS. In th ecurrent situation Ebay cards are selling so hi right now because everyone out there was to slow and did not want to lose 75 bucks on a P4 card that might not work (for the last 2 years that is). Now everyone sees the Hu going down, which was going to ahppen eventually, and they are all in a rush to buy whatever tehy can get their hands on. So supply is low compared to demand, which means bigtime prices, I saw one sell for 300 cdn the other day, WOW. Now we get into more stupidity. All these people on Ebay are trying to buy whatever they can, however if they did there homework they would know that if a P4 hack comes out it will NOT be as extensive as possible like the software we had with the Hu, it always takes time to get to that point. So in other words, you will not be able to unloop or unmarry any P4 or P5 cards right away, just clean them and write to them. So now tell me this, what good is a "Valid P4 card", no good at all. If you look on ebay you will see tons of auctions saying "valid P4 card, gets previews" or "previously subbed P4 card". Odds are these cards are already married to a reciever that you do not have, which makes them useless because the software being released might not be able to unmarry cards until further down the road. So the only card that is a good idea to by is a guaranteed Virgin one, in other words, one the DTV guy handed you or one that is in one of those envelopes from DTV themselves. This way you avoid any of these obstacles. BUT THEN AGAIN MAYBE THE P4 AND P5 HACK WILL NEVER BE AND ALL THIS IS A WASTE OT TIME. Time will tell but until it does you will see p4 cards going for tons of cash and I would imagine that if a P4 hack comes out then they will be worth even more, especially if you must have a virginone, and not a previously subbed one. Just my 2 cents.

Now that the hu is dead maybe 2,000,000 testers will be noticed more by the world when they actually come outside and say hi. The porn on dtv is way FOUL and I will not miss it. You want porn go to www.mirc.com and download the client. Read a bit and find out what "dcc get" means. I have more full length dvd quality porn at my fingertips than dtv could EVER supply and it is actually GOOD. The same goes with movies just go and get them video games as well.

The p4 ain't gonna be viable for a LONG TIME so you might as well not waste your money. I got $300 for 2 p4's that were never in an ird when they first started to come out a long time ago. These prices are not out of the ordinary. When demand goes up prices follow. In 6 months when the p4 hack is not out and the initial shock of no tv starts to wear off the prices will drop a TON. The hack is not even close to being here so just sit tight and find something else to do besides cry.

Wait atleast 2 weeks before you buy a P4 or P5, people will come to their senses by then. I wouldn't worry about getting them before the prices skyrocket because one of the biggest factors is that you can still get them, unlike when people were trying to get H cards, when they were pulled off their shelves from dtv. When the H card was working and the HU hack was not out yet, you had to pay through your teeth to get an H card.
Basically as long as Dave is still sending out P4/P5 cards to his customers you can expect to pay about %20 more than one Dave charges off of ebay (when demand is low-average).

There could be another choice. For people that deal with charlie they know that there are atmega, avr and magic cards in place of the plastic. And these are easier to program than the plastic. There is a good chance that something similer might come out for dave.

DTVismybitch was talking about Economics I believe they are using the p4 or p5 in South America lets hope dave made that mistake and they are. This creates a larger customer base for people that sell support for dave. Get it, more money for them. This will be an incentive to find a hack. This also creates more hackers.

It is also more expensive for dave to change the cards again so once you buy into it, it should last longer
