You have got to hand it to DTV engineers, programers and techs. Not since the JFK assination has there been such a kept secret. You would think that at least one of DTV's people in the know would have leaked their knowledge. It isn't against human nature to have secrets, but is against nature to keep them. The way it is looking now, by the time the P4-P5 are cracked, they will be shutting down their stream and a new card will be out.

On a seperate issue, all first year law students learn about the "rule of capture". It's a rule that is applied in many areas of law, from property to oil and gas. I look at signals as being applicable to that rule. In fact, it could be argued that DTV and others are trespassing on my property. Perhaps they should be paying me for using my property without consent. Just because you can't visually see their signals in your living room, doesn't mean they are not there. If your neighbor diverted a stream so that the flow now flooded your backyard, that would be a form of trespass, which he would be liable for. It all comes down to money. The same people who are interpreting the law are also collecting money, at least in the form of election campaigns, from thos seeking favorable rulings in court. What makes Satelite signals so unique over other signals, i.e. microwave, radio.....that they deserve unigue protection?

Perhaps someday all who beileve in freedom and "real" property rights will ban together in a large class action suit and slap down those who are infringing on our rights as property owners.....maybe not.

try maybe a couple days or at most a month after the hu is shut down
Hope you're right, berzerkled, I really do.
Don't bet your life savings on it. ;)

You should read my post on the VideoCipher II + used with Big Ugly Dishes. It's 15 years old, with 15 year old technology...and remains uncompromised to this day, despite the efforts of the best hacks in the business. Granted, not many are trying anymore...but for 5 years, they gave it hell until DTV was introduced in 1994.
