How to aim antenna w/o ROM in IRD?

Have a 3700 receiver and a Rom3 card that I subed years ago. Don't want to chance locking the Rom3, so have not put it in the IRD with the IRD connected to the antenna. But the IRD won't allow me to go into sat aiming mode without a card in it. Tried taking a piece of plastic an inserting it to make the card switch, but only got card inserted wrong error message. How can I aim antenna without a card in it?

Have a 3900, should be about the same procedeure, plug ird in without card, then as soon as it powers up, hit the menu button, then go to sat aiming, if you wait to long after it powers up , you can not access the menu, thats what I had to do to mine.

stick you cam in upside down or backwards to get past the insert card nag (opend the swithc in the card reader) then go to point dish signal in the instalation menu.
this will have to be done quick. before the card insert wrong way nag or stick a invalid cam in and menu past the nag, background might be black but it can be done to get a siginal. pain in the ass but doable..hell stivk your football card in to break the contacks.. lol
beats way is put one in with wrong box keys or cam id number on it . be sure it has blocker. or is already stream locked.

When I try this, I get kicked out of #6 sat aiming.
Does not stay long enough, any ideas?

go ahead and fix your card with a good blocker on it, and then you won't have to worry about it. You gotta do it anyway.....might as well start now???????

You are right, not programming till tomorrow, just trying to get ahead of myself.
