Newbie needs help

I just got a Echostar IRD Model ISD2200 and a Rom2 card and was wondering if this equipment is good enough to start into this hobby with. Also, if it is ok, what hardware, software and how to guides or instructions would be most benificial in starting out. Thanks to all in advance.

It's some reading my friend, Click on Mili's getting started tab on the top here and select dishnet. It's too much info to put in one post and Mili did a good job putting it all together and explaining it in that link.

I understand that there is a lot of reading involved. I just wanted to know if the equipment I have is good enough to use before doing unnecessary reading. Like should the recevier get the updates or not? Can an older card be used in a newer receiver? I took a guide down and unless I missed it these things weren't covered. I just wanted to make sure before I do damage to something that cannot be fixed.
