I am a little confused with which dishes you can use with FTA receivers.
I've read you can use legacy, you can't use legacy, dish 500 , no to dish 500.....
I know you need a switch if you are pointing at 2 sats, I also know that the price of the T-55 is not for me.
Can someone shed some light on this for me please.
Thanks,
alm

well, I'm an FTA user as well. From my experience FTA to receive dishnet you must used dual lnb(2 single lnb not legacy twin), or dish pro lnb(works for all brand with correct setting in the receiver). Because the TWIN LEGAGY has a built in switch, therefore it does not work with fta receiver to receive charlie. for dishwise you can use legacy dish or dish pro depend on which satellite you wish to receive.
Hope this help and answer your question.

It will work but apparently there is a problem with the switch. However, if you get the dual lnb I'm sure it will be ok with exception you have to get a 1.2 diseqc switch. *I use the pansat 1.2 off ebay*

the problem lie in the built-in switch in twin legacy lnb and quad legacy lnb. Since the receiver require 22khz(correct me if I'm wrong) which the twin and the quad do not have.
Eventhough it will work but when you turn to different channel it will be "no signal" then if you turnto other channel and come back to the previous channel it will work again. so my advise to you is you better off with a dual lnb(no built in switch or the dish pro lnb(anyone))should work fine.

I don't seem to have that problem. I am not using a Dish500 pro setup. Under "Antenna Setup" I used DiSEqC #1 for 119 and #2 for 110, so far works very nice.
I concure with this.
