I know that there have been plenty of c&p's for when it is supposed to go, but does anyone have an accurate timeline? after the initial drop i haven't really noticed anything else.
Thanks.

The list that was distributed to the dealers has been holding true to it's promises so far (Ouch - right through the heart! No more food channel as of today!!!).

And the list states the 27th as doomsday for all HU VA packets to dissappear for the locals, channels 360, 362, 245, 247, 202, and 206.

Seriously, only Dave knows for sure. I would bet that only a small handful of people have access to that information, and they have no reason to tell anyone else.

You would not believe what is involved in combatting signal theft. A good friend worked for the cable company in the 90s and it was like the secret service over there regarding this type of information. They had to deal with things a little differently, but were just as resourceful.

One of my favorites was during the ever-so-popular Mike Tyson fights. There was an email circulated to a very select group of people regarding the latest sting operation. The email said that there was a special offer being aired during the Tyson fight for a tee shirt or something people would actually buy. Anyone working the phone lines was to gather as much information as possible while taking the order for the shirt.

What they were doing was sending a real commercial to all known subscribed cable boxes that paid for the event. Everyone else got a "special" commercial advert instead. The offer was indeed real - it apparently poses legal challenges if it is not - but anyone who called in to order it had a red flag placed on their account or address and a friendly cable repair man would pay them a visit.

How they acted during that visit was different for each suspect, but usually involved putting blockers on the line going to that house if they were not a paying customer. The email even mentioned that it was intended mostly for information gathering, presumable to calculate potential losses. However, sometimes they would send a repair man inside flagged subscriber's homes for some made up reason, hoping to catch them using the illegal box. In those cases, a police officer would return with some sort of ticket or summons.

After hearing of this, one friend told me that a guy he sold a modified box to got caught and had to pay a fine. The ironic thing is the guy was a lawyer! He let the cable guy in his house on an unexpected visit.
