I wasn't sure if I should post here, or in the DishNetwork section...this regards both DTV and Dish so if I am in the wrong place please forgive.

I am not sure if I should wait for a p4-p5 crack or switch to dish. I have been at this for a long time, first with H, then p3. I have many receivers, two no zktmod 420's which I did myself, jtag I built myself, loader/unlooper...etc. I hate to start all over, but may not really have a choice. It's the time it takes someone as ignorant as myself to learn from the beginning with dish.

I am concerned that Dish is on the heals of DTV. I decide to spend several hundred just to find that Dish is going to a version of DTV's p4-p5 card and I just threw away the original investment.

If I decide to start with Dish, is there anything that I have used with DTV that can be used with Dish.....i.e.loader/unlooper, jtag for the 420mod?

Who can be trusted to buy from. When I originally started this many years ago, there wasn't the threat of being busted that there is today....hell, you could order from just about anywhere without a threat. Now all you read about is those getting caught. Is Dish as motivated as DTV in their tactics to catch a thief?

Once again, sorry if this is in the wrong section and thank you all for any advise you can give me...

You can get into dish testing for little money, bout 150 to 200 bucks, includeing everything. Hit the garage sales and goodwill. I test both. costs less to test dish than DTV. You will need to study and read a lot to test dish if you have not tested it before. It is not harder, just differant. Read Mili's posts on the subject. He is pretty darn good.

Spend a couple hours reading, digest what you read, then read some more, it will become clear that Dish really isn't harder than DTV, just different, I have learned a great deal without having to ask any questions as there is a lot of info on hacking dishnet.
You need to learn the differences in the methods used, the differences in the equipment (dish uses legacy and dish pro equipment types), differences in card types(dish can use a magic card, too), and differences in the programming. Hang on to your jtag it will be needed....You can safely buy right here from mili..........

Okay...thanks for the advice. I am headed out now to Goodwill and maybe a few pawn shops to see what I can find. I figure, even if there is a p4-p5 crack soon, which I doubt, but even if there is...I will always have Dish as a backup..thanks again...

Not mentioned yet but the flea market is great for this stuff. Thye have gotten smarter over the years and charge a lil more. But it is a cash business with no trails. I sell recievers I have bought on ebay(dumb thing for me to do) at the flea market also.
