Need help getting started jtaging

I'm new to Jtaging so this is a basic question for you guys......what is the beuty to jtagging? Next...which model reciever is best to jtag with? Should I just go to Walmart or Sears and get a new one or hit ebay and if so are there things to look for before buying? Which card should you get for jtagging. I've been reading the posts for 1 month but need to hear your opinion. Any links or documentation would be appreciated. thanks
