Hi Guys,

I have a 3700 IRD and a couple of 2700s.

I have been able to remove the R259 resistor on both of the 2700 IRDs.

This resistor does NOT exist however on the 3700.

I understand that I am to etch through the trace, severing the connection at the point where the R259 should be, but I am feeling abit squirly doing it without confirmation that this is the correct course of action.

Once I have determined that the trace is cut properly, I need to figure out how i solder to the trace. (TSOP WE I presume)

Are there any detailed instructions on exactly how I solder to the tracer directly?
Some best practice info would be much appreciated.

I would LOVE a drawing or some info from an experienced tester.

best regards,

MOOK

Check out mili's tsop lock install guide at bellexpress.vu. On page 7 there is a notation in red regarding this issue.

Ok,

I figured out how to cut and expose the R259 trace.

I tinned the trace with some solder like a champ.

I got my wire tinned i dropped it on there but it is not the most solid connection. It sucks frankly.

What can i do to convert this trace to a real solder joint?

WHat have you guys been doing?

Best regards,

MOOK

Mook I just basicly did what you did..... Or you can get a circuit repair kit and go through much more time and hazzle of soldering a pad to the trace taking in consideration of the traces around it... It sucks I know. As long as you have a good connection i would leave it alone... All you need is a lifted trace and etc
