I have a subbed Bev 5100 pvr ird that i don't test with yet. I have never connected it to the phone line. This is what happened back in oct 2003 I was recording a program and the power went out and came back and went out again all within a few seconds, my 5100 pvr was not plugged into a surge protector at this time (I know stupid me, now I have a surge protector). Now for the past few months I am unable to to a hard reset of my 5100. I follow the hard reset instructions (menu, 6, 3, info, browse, theme, tv/video, select, and unplug ird) as quickly as I can, but when I get to the select option my IRD will not jump into the memory dump screen, the screen just flickers no matter how long I press the select button. Another note from time to time my 5100 ird will act strange in that some times when i change channels, they wont come in, I get a black screen sometimes with or without sound and the picture won't come back until I do a soft reset (unplug the ird for 20 minutes to an hour)(should I pull the cam when I do a soft reset?) and the ird goes back to semi-normal (no hard reset capabilities). I notice now that I have to have a small fan blowing air into the ird, or I get some pixilation. anyone experience this or have an idea how to fix these problems?

Perhaps you were going too fast or not pressing a button hard enough trying the hard reset. Only the last 3 need to be pressed quicky (info, browse, theme). If still can't get it from your remote try the front panel buttons on the IRD. Can be done on these models.

have a signal strenth of 80+ but the pixilation of the video is increasing on all channels and some times will get the searching for sat signal pop up. checked line of sight....good, checked connections.....good. it must be the ird. any one have any thoughts

update....still can't get into the memory dump screen i even phoned bev a while back and the person on the other line bitched me out for 5 minutes saying that process will wreck your ird and who told you to do it and i said a bev tech that shut him up then i bitched him out for 5 minutes on why would a bev tech tell me to do a process that could wreck my ird. i still get the pixilation. now i need some advice from people who are using a jinterface device, when i try to get my box keys from my subbed 5100 when i fire up jkeys (2.9.11 or the version for 5100) (i should have the cam out of the ird right?) i get this message...jinterface firmware corruption would you like to update it? ... but it still doesn't show the the 5100 in the ird drop down and ird box keys. and then it wants to start to erase stuff....should i let it or will it screw up my sub????? any info will be great

Your pixilation - could it be interference with your coax? I have the same problem with slight pixilaiton on darker colors and I thought i heard somewhere that it could possibly be interference or possibly a weak connection? I'm just guessing here so set me straight if anyone else knows different.
