messed up 301.010

my bootstrap returns garbage when I JTAG the receiver. I have used wall2 to reprogram the eeprom and both tsops but still get the same garbage in the bootstrap info. This came after an ECM a couple of night ago.

did you earase the flash 2. if not then dont,
you say after a ecm. what did you do when you jtaged it was it showing this to start with.
have you tried using jkeys to see if the info is there.
Garbage = what.. yyyyy or fffff or oooooo.
might help to know what the garbage is.
are you sure in haste you hooked the jtag up right and not backwards?

Just a quick point, I had problems jtaging my 301.010 until I got rid of my parallel cable. i plugged the jtag right into my parallel port on my laptop and it cleaned right up.

well, usually the garbage is yyy.

What I think happened is I flipped the digital lock while the Jtag was plugged in, not reading or writing so it shouldn't have done anything, but at that point I got garbage.

I did erase and reprogram both TSOP's and the eeprom several times now.

I belive I have it right, 1FC is TSOP 2 and 1FE is TSOP 1.

Jkeys will not do anything, all boxes greyed out,

Wall does the reprogram and I am pretty sure I am doing it right.

I am using a lpt cable and a gender changer so I will drop all of this out in an attempt to clean it up, its just the JTAG cable is so short I can't hold on to it and work at the same time.

the box keys read f0 f0 b7 b7 f0 f0 b7 b7

and the bootstrap etc read yy sometimes and little o with squigglies on top others.

I am not sure what jtag cable your using but sounds like during one of your writings it may have lost contact. shaky hands, cough , scratching ass,(lol) just kidding dude I know its hard to hold it for 3 minutes each time.
is there any way you can find something like static resitant foam or rubber to squeeze in there to help hold it steady.some tape or a heavy book. It only takes a few seconds to get a read for the box keys so if it is showing "garbage" I would think it has a courpted flash written to it.
try to steady it up a bit and see if you can get it to show you the keys.
read the reserecting dead 301's I know your is not dead but it has some good info about flashing. remeber once you erase one of the tsops do not unplug or you will be reading the dead guide for real.
That is whats making me think yours may not ne courupt because it is not in a coma.
the info your seeing as garbage is in the first part of flash 2 and if it was messed up you would prob be not getting green light at all.
also u can use a program like hex workshop or hexedit to open your flashes you are writing to the ird and see if they are corupt. you just compare them to a known valid dump. check the size of the files if they are not the rite size then defintly is your problem.
