View Full Version : Unwink jtag with 301.013
Has anyone had any success with unwink jtag with 301.013 ?
If so where did you get your power from ? I been using CR5004 ( 5V ) for my power , but not having any luck all I get in my jkeys are 0X00000000
Thanks for any help...... :)
I am of no help cause I am having a problem with my 3100-10. I am getting 0xFFFFFFF. Would you happen to know if the jtag port is the same?

Hi sfg,
With the 0XFFFFFFFF try connecting the jtag to the back of the pc with no cable you should get something then , with the unwink you have to use a IEEE Parallel cable or it will not work. If you get it working with your 3100-10 let me know , then I will keep trying with my , But I know that the unwink will not work with all of the irds.
I used an unbuffered very cheap unwink jtag. Parallel port - resistors - cat5 cable
Soldered that in to the corresponding points on a 301.013 and was able to get box keys and read tsop with no problem.
Hi theP4hack,
My is the buffered one & has to have power to it or it will not work. I am going to see if I can make it an unbuffered one & give it a try. I been using Milis how to for the pad setting on the jtag , is that the setting your using on yours?
Thanks for the info theP4hack..... :)
Tried the direct hookup with the jtag. Did not work. I suspect that I have the pins wrong but all the info I can find says that I have it correct.
I have even gone so far as to build a second jtag and it doesn't work either.
I an hoping to come across someone who has done the 3100-010 that can comfirm the pin/pad locations for my receiver.

It may be your pc sfg , Unfortunately, not all parallel ports are created equal. There have been some (very few) who just couldn't get the buffered version to work. You can try a different pc & see if it will go ..
Yes I'm used the layout from mili's Vid Mod guide.
TMS - TCK - TDI - TDO - TRST
Also for ground I just wrapped the jtag ground wire around the screw for the IRD's power ground (loosed the screwed, wrapped wire around then tightened screw).
I'm pretty sure the jtag I build a long time ago is like this one.

Thanks for the info P4hack :) I never seen one with only one resistor.
Well I got it too work after trying all three of my pc's, 7 different cables (one of which is only 2" long), and building a whole new jtag (unwink style). I am in the receiver. The only thing I did differently is use a power supply (that I was too lazy to dig out of my crawl space for the last week) set it to 5 volts and bingo. Taking power from the receiver and battery power did not work for me (?). Oh well...it works and thats what matters.
I have saved both my flashes and eeprom so far. If you have any questions about my setup let me know.
