the schematic on installing the digital lock for the 3000 receiver is different that what's on my 3000 Philips receiver. the TSOP pictured has a total of 32 pins, while mine only has 28. the TSOP number is AM29F040 while mine is AD9066JR. any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

You Must Have The Sharp Tsop. Is It Located Directly Behind The Card Slot? If You Do Have The Sharp, It Is Not Lockable. I Have Read Some Other Posts That If The Sharp Gets ECM'd, The Receiver locks Up And You Will Need To Unplug To Reset. Location ID Does Not Go To 00000001.

the TSOP doesn't have a manufacturer name listed, has a gray box with a triangle in it. it is located in the right rear quadrant if you are looking at it from the front of the board (card slot side). the TSOP has the following numbers on it: AD9066JR
9810
C18426

i am grateful for any assistance you might have.

I'd guess that you are looking at the wrong side of the board!
It's probably behind the card slot area. Look for a chip with the same general number scheme as the AMD flash if you don't have one of those.

Your Tsop Is Located In U19 Or U26 Depending If You Have A Sharp Tsop Or AMD? They Are Located Directly Behind The Card Slot. Does It Say 3000 On The Back Of The Receiver?
Check Out The Pictures At DishLock Under Installation, DigitialLock 1.

I meant left to right not top to bottom when I said 'wrong side of the board'.
Of course as I said, you did find it behind the card slot, and it did have the same numbering scheme as the AMD chips. Yes, they can be ECM'd, and yes, you can install a lock. Go to the dishlock.com site as suggestd, and look at the install instructions for the Digilock 1 and 3, and look at the GreyBox or 3000 instructions.
