Is it safe to Solder URGENT!!!!PLEASE

If I'm making my own j-tag is it safe to solder the leads directly on to the j-tag port? and will it definately work....I got the schematics of the net for a simple j-tag. I have a 2700 model receiver. Thanks for any info......this is the best info site on the net.

It won't damage anything by chance????????????Then what do I do just keep it soldered to it at all times and just tie the cable up behind it???? Also will it read and write to the receiver??????? Thanks again

I made it using the db25 plug and five 100ohm resistors ......will this work .....just want to make sure before I do the deed... Thanks one mo gin
