Have a 3700 w/o R259. Have cut trace and am not having luck scraping and soldering to trace. The instructions say this trace goes to pin 11 on the TSOP. As a backup, could I solder the wire directly to pin 11? The TSOP chip has a dimple on it and I assume that marks pin 1. I would count from there to pin 11 and solder. Is this viable or will I damage the chip? Thanks.

Explain your method of "scraping the trace".
Have you tried using an exacto knife?

Have used razor blade to scrape mask off trace but can not get solder to hold to trace. Have even tried lifting a small bit of the trace to get a short "numb" to solder to with no luck. Am using rosin core solder. Have some silver-bearing solder if that will do better (never used this before). Am taking great care but with no luck.

Are you using say 30ga wire wrap ? i used 30ga from Rat Shack . With trace scraped (while veiwing with a magnifing glass) I tinned up soldering iron leaveing a lil solder on it to get flow from solder pen to trace . Then tin up about 1/16 inch of the wire wrap place on trace hold firm and then gently run tip of iron on wire wrap and not moving wire.... It should take hold. if not you may need to get some flux and put just a small amount on tarce....Soldering takes patients and some technique....Hope this helps
