View Full Version : Wiping PPVs via the modem port?

Hope this isn't a stupid question. Has there ever been an attempt to wipe PPVs on a sub card using the telephone connection on the IRD? I've never seen anything about it, and is seems like an obvious hack. Just curious......
The PPV's are wiped via the stream. Your IRD calls out, you get a bill, you pay your bill, and WALLA DTV sends down the packets.

More I thought about what I posted I guess that second card would be required to be cloned too so until the new cards can be cloned too, that wouldn't work either...
Sorry, been spending too many days away from the TV ever since the HU died
At least the yard looks good and the garage has been cleaned several times, just too much time on my hands!!! :cry:

Is it possible to purchase PPV with phone unplugged and not get charged?
I know that I can't get billed if no phone.. but I am almost positive when using the HU before testing.. I didn't think I could order ppv without phone in.??

RAX: Thanks for the info. I should a figured it was something like that, I just didn't know for sure how it worked. Now, if somone can just find a way to get a PC to insert the wipe commands into the stream before it hits the IRD.......... lol

Yes but as soon as your IRD tries to call out and gets no dial tone (after a couple of tries) It will give you a Please call Ext. XXX :rolleyes:
i bought 3 ppv movies (598) and after that i got call ext 733 your card is full
i do not have my phone line pluged in
there getting smarter with the p4s

Your IRD tried to call out. That nothing new w/ the p4. It's always been that way. Just w/ the hu you could just wipe ppv's :rolleyes:
