721 section
YES, a PVR721 can be used for emulation
NO, there are no detailed instructions as it's the same as any other models : GET the BKs add the IRD# and a CAM# (ROM10 or ROM11 depending on the emulation chosen) and here you go !!!
The PVR721 has 2 tuners, not 2 card slots. One smartcard for the whole system. So only one Max&Mel or AVR suffices...
There is no such thing as a lock for this model. It simply doesn't exist...yet... It's exactly the same thing for a 6000HDTV let's say...
The flash in this model is a BGA not a TSOP. Unless you're equipped for it, you don't want to deal with this...

508 section
Yes, it can be used
No (Same answer as the PVR721)
Depends on the model of 508. Old ones doesn't require it. New ones do.
Yes VIDMOD is widely documented
The purpose of VIDMOD is to be able to make thr IRD accept a ROM2/3/10/11 instead of a ROM10x (101/102/103). Once done, you don't hae to change any TSOPs. The other way of looking at it is to change the "GT" by a "DT" so you won't have to do a vidmod. It's all a question of tools...
The 501/508 and 510 are EXACTLY the same model with HDU of different sizes. 501 -> 40GB -> 30 hours of recording
508 -> 80GB -> 60 hours of recording
510 -> 120GB -> 90 hours of recording
There is apparently a technique to shove bigger hard drive in those IRD. I don't know how it's done though. I remember something about changing the geometry of the drive.
The rules of changing HDU is all the same : you can make a 501 accept a 120GB HDU. Once everything is done your info screen will show a 510 model...
Detailed instructions exist to deal with these drive swaps.

hope this helps,

Can you emulate the 721 with a Rom3? If not, then which emulators are working with Rom10?

I'm playing with my new 721, first experiance with this IRD. Emulating with Yvous 1.5 using Rom10 files. (Have been using Yvous 3.0 for my 2700's with great success.)

Got it up and going, sort of. Don't have all the channels that I should, my tiers are not working, and the INFO screen shows I'm running a Rom3 Rev 383. Is that because I need to re-flash my 2313 chip for Rom10 emulation? If so, I cannot find a Rom10 hex to flash it with. What do I search for? If that's not it, then where do I get more info on Yvous 1.5, or what am I doing wrong?

A little help please?

I finally got CEMU working. I found a flash (one chip emu flash was the only one I could find) to change the emu to Rom10. Never did get Yvous 1.5 Rom 10 to work :(

Has anyone gotten Yvous Rom 10 working with a 721?

Hey anyone out there???
