Read that again before flaming. The DVR40 in question is a DEALER DEMO. The access card is a P4 that is also a DEALER DEMO card that is fairly wide open.

The record and playback functions work without inturruption, but when watching one channel for more than about 15 minutes, a demo nag comes up and you have to grab the remote to click on the continue button. VERY annoying.

Has anyone run across this before?

From what I've read while searching around about this receiver, is sounds like the software on the drive needs to be changed to a "normal" sub version. This DVR40 did take a long time to download something when it was first put in service as a dealer demo.

If I do that, will this unit see that the dealer demo card is still in use and force a download of the demo software again? Is it even capable of doing that?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

If this is a dtv ird with harddrive to get out of demo you need to subcribe to service or make it think it is.
