View Full Version : Dave dosen't want my money :(
I called DTV today to sub my UltimateTV box that has been running mili's script on an hu for a year and a half. I wanted to open an account and get them to send me a P4 or whatever.
I told them I bought the IRD on ebay, and wanted to use it. They said the only way they will sub a used box, is if the previous owner calls them and has the box transfered to me. I thought this was strange so I asked "Who owns the box? The customer or you?" They replied that the customer owns the box, but the DTV policy is to only sub a used box with permission from the prev. owner.
They said it is pointless to buy an IRD on ebay because they won't activate it.
So I told them to forget it then......:(
What a bunch of chumps.
...guess you will just have to sub to Charlie since Dave wont let you.
I would say that Dave is a cock sucker, but that wouldn't be accurate. Rupert Murdock is a cock sucker!!!
Yeah, but the wife is tweakin. She wants her precious UTV back.
Dish PVR is a POC with only a single tuner.

I like free dish just as much as free direct tv.And If was going to sub it would be with dish.Because it's still hackable. You can get most if not all the programming direct has.I'm sure there will be enough football on dish with all the sports channels.

I'd just do a new setup with 5 rooms free or whatever and get a Tivo. Ultimate TV was good but Tivo is better. I think Dave charges an extra $49 bucks for the Tivo.
You'll have to check the contract but you can probably shut off a couple of rooms in a couple of months without a penalty. Then you've got some more IRDs to play with if testing ever becomes feasible. Or you could send the IRDs to a buddy's house and split the cost of the sub.

What about doing the 4 room sub, and when the installer comes to hook it up have them switch to the UTV box with one of the new cards? The installers are usually pretty cool.

I talked to one CSR who said the same stuff as above, "you have to have the old subscriber transfer the new box to you, blah, blah, blah.." so I said fuck it and hung up.
I called back 2 days later and spoke to another CSR who said just the same as this quote above, just work with the installer when they come out to activate your new boxes...have him install the additional one, shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!
