As long as it's for 2700 bev then you can let it update in the stream.

If it's for bev it should work.
One thing, your Build config is not likely CAID, and it's not listed on the back of the receiver.
(caveat: if you are talking about it being on a sticker that someone other than the manufacturer put on there identifying that as the build config that is.) Most build configs will end with an 'A', even though the saved files in the TSOP bank will have a 'D'. The first three letters are what matters. The Build Config is inside on the board on a build config sticker. Try looking through the cover slots with a flahlight and see if you can spot the little square sticker with the build config.
As far as the boxkeys, if you don't have the card that was married to that receiver (or a backup of it), then you are going to have to use your Jtag and Jkeys to retrieve it from the receiver.
And the problem you describe is exactly what happens when your boxkeys are wrong on the card.
Good Luck!
Boxkeys are specific to the receiver, you need to get the boxkeys from the receiver your working on now, and the card used with a receiver also has to have the same boxkeys programmed onto it, along with the IRD number, etc.

am working on reciever 2700, on the sticker on the inside the build is cocd, I messed up first time I tried to j tag it and did a full erase, with out saving so I do not know where to find the box key number, I looked through slots and can see a long number , tried to enter that as box key number but flash edit would not accept some of the letters PKJ so I am thinking this is not box key number ,,,, where else can I find box key number if I have erased it???
Since you wiped out the entire flash, you'll have to get someone to send you a copy of their TSOP and EEPROM. Then your IRD serial number and boxkeys would be identical to theirs. The build version would have to be very similar to yours of course.
I'm not 100% sure that will work, but it seems like your only chance if you never got the box keys from the card or TSOP.
