If you have the matching card for it, You need it for the boxkeys on that model, If no card matching it I would look for a different receiver to be honest, Something with a jtag port.

What Birdie is refering to, is that if you have the original ROM card that was married to that receiver, then you can read the card to get the boxkeys (no jtag port for this model).

Yup, that's the one I'm talking about. Most probably had a ROM3 card in there.
