I don't remember getting that msg (unplug/plug, hit Ok within 4 secs) when backing up my eeprom on 501. Try going thru those steps...you won't damage anything.

Strange...
I don't remember the exact size of the 501 eeprom bin. Here's what I would try....
1) Re-install Jkeys (or a diff ver of Jkeys)
2) Try a diff puter.

the 501/5100 have a 8.00KB eeprom file size....and i agree with chapster99 try using jkeys 2.9.10 works great form me... as i too had problems with the 2.9.11 version.

no problem thats what we are here to do.... i am very glad to hear everything is reading properly now!
Changing to jtag version 2.9.10 did the trick. We got an 8KB eeprom backup. We did it right!!!! Thanks to you both, Chapster99 & canadiens, you got us right to the solution. We really appreciate you giving us your experience. Thanks again, Zoey.

I too am having problems with the eeprom saving. I've used two puters and serveral jkeys versions. My question is how do you reinstall jkeys, it doesn't install, it just unpacks and you use the jkeys.exe were ever it exists. So whats the point of reinstalling. Unless you mean erase it, redownload it, and execute it from somewhere else on my harddrive. Right now I have several versions of jkeys copied ( or installed ) on my hd. I did get the flash 1 and 2. I get "error reading from memory" Should I be that concerned about the eeprom since I have the box keys, ird num, and flash 1 and 2?
Sorry so long. thanx
