Most 508's do not need mods as most came with rom 10's.
I see info on mods for 510's, So if not compatible can be modded.( I think, I do not have any 510's myself, Just 7200 and 508's)

The issue is probably more of Magic card needing to have the PVR tier in its program for these.

The RE-manufactured 501s are now the same as a new/RE-Manufactured 508.
That means:
1. The remanufactured 501s have 1 DT and 1 GT chip.
2. You MUST use the 508 Jkeys Def to get the correct IRD # and Box Key.
3. You MUST use the OJ1 jumper/switch to backup the TSOPs and EEPROM.
4. You MUST use the VidMod to write to 7FFFFFAC to change D500 to 000.
Yes they come with a Yellow (10x) card.

DP721 IS working (Confirmed) with plastic ROM3, ROM10 and ROM11. It is also working with ROM10/ROM11 emulation. I don't know about Magic Card, don't own one myself.

The key is the GT chip at U7. Yours must still have the DT chip at U7.
That is why I specified that U7 was a GT chip.

I just got a remanufactured 508 with the GT set. Even after download with yellow card, ROM3 would not work. I had to do Vidmod and 0J1, and then change 7FFFFFAC from D500 to 0000. Works great now with MC! VIDMOD CAN SMOKE 501, 508, or 510 with no R331! Read and know exactly what you are doing first!

Nobody ever repied regarding ROM2 + DP compatibility.

I'm guessing a ROM2 will NOT work with the newer DP models - 501/508, etc..

Is that correct or did I miss something when I programmed the ROM2?

Rom2 is working fine in my DP301.13 and DP510. I don't use it on the regular. I just programmed it to tell you that it does work. Read up on rom2. The image has to be managed in xcel then save the file as ne patch once you have added what you want. Go to ne perferably ne1.1 or ne2 for these rom2's and apply patch and write. Simple as that.

Tough beast to work on. Helps to have great eyes or a good magnifier, a soldering iron with a real small tip, and a steady hand. I managed anyway.

All run like a top with Max&mel 2313/232 emu board and oddcircuits AR105C programmable locks.

Not interested in the stuff my self, just trying to help Milli find information. Address I suggested is a pure historic information site. no company stuff, no testing stuff just tell what equiptment is fand does from old to new. and it shows what can be connected to what, Untouched (hacks and adapters not included or mentioned)

I used it to anwser quetion of compatability between old IRD and New dish and visa versa that no one was sure of. Like I said I don't know what alls in there its massive. and non-secterian history library, info only.

DP508 is a standard flash fix.
Works excellent in emulation with an internal max&mel.
Put a programmable lock on it or you'll get hit and loose your recordings.

3200 – NOT JTAGable
3500 – NOT JTAGable
3700 – Same as 2800
3800 – Same as 3900
3900 – Same as 2800, Except this has a larger TSOP and “Dish home” feature.
4000 – NOT JTAGable. Dual TSOP requires 2 digital locks.
4500 – Same as 4000, UHF remote.
4700 – Same as 2800 but with dolby optical output.
4900 – Same as 4700
5100 – See 501
6000 – HD receiver. AS far as I know, never been ECM’ed
7100 – JTAGable PVR, requires “Sombrero” JTAG ,Dolby optical output
7200 – Same as 7100

301.005 – JTAGable. Very flat receiver with pic in the guide. Newer than the 2700/2800 series.
301.010 – Same as the 301.005.
301.013 – Same as 301.010 except that JTAG may need to be done topside or hole may need to be cut in case to access. This unit also requires vid mod to access the TSOP.
311 – Same as the 301 series except this is a cardless unit.
501 – JTAGable PVR with 40 gig HD
508 – JTAGable PVR with 80 gig HD
510 – I have no info on this PVR
721 – Not JTAGable. As I understand, you need to lock the TSOP from new in order to use blue card.
811 – Not JTAGable

The 301-10 and 301-13 both come in single and double TSOP models.

You can either take the cover off and look and see if there are 1 or 2 chips,

OR

You can J-Tag it and see.

If you look at the upper right hand box it will have a box with a number if there is a (1) before the number pull down and you will see (2) the second .bin file.

If there is no number and you can not pull down another .bin you have a single.

I've got a Refurb 508 with dual GT chips; as is it would only work with a yellow card but after taking an update from the stream it works with ROM3 and higher as well as magic card (don't know about ROM2 - don't have one)

I've got a vid mod on it (simple mod) and an AR105C auto lock and it works great (up until the most recent ECM which makes the lock loop but a firmware update for the lock should cure that.

The IRD info is moved in the chipset so if you have to re-flash for some reason and you don't have a backup you'll need to use a virgin P071 image, the earlier images (P063 and P068) will NOT work.

Seems like a lot of work needed yet.
I personally don't understand the interest in this 311 anyway, there are plenty of inexpensive receivers available that are hackable.

Good luck..........I have not even seen a flash dump for one of these yet, and if you have please share the source. I have seen an eeprom dump, but an eeprom is easy.

Hey guys, I got a 7100. Got the latest firmware. It's running on a MC1. All I get is a couple of music (audio) channels and some preview channel on 600 or 601. I read above that tiers might have to be created for this type of receiver, can someone shed light on my useless paperweight.

I have a new subbed factory installed (Charlie's superdish not mine) with a dp34 switch and two dual ird's (all 4 outputs used). I bought a second dp34 switch (cascadded to the first) and a refurbished 3900. Using magic card in the 3900, I can only get either the 110 or the 119 bird. When I run a switch check, it says "no switch detected". How can this be resolved and what do I need to get signals from both birds without modifying their superdish? Can I use a sw21 on two of the outputs from the second dp34to resolve this? I'm not clear if this ird will work with this superdish. Any help would be appreciated.

got my hands on a 301.015 does not look to be jtagable, no connections whatsoever on the receiver, and the flash is a surface mount flash that seems to be glued onto the board, all the legs are underneth, no way of taking this flash out.

HArd to do, you need to pull the flash chip or use a sombrero type jtag.......if you don't have the boxkeys, those are not worth the effort.......
