View Full Version : Jtag ?
If you getting a message about Com1, you are probably using Jkeys, and it is probably set (under preferences) to use the jInterface. Unless the jtag you purchased actually has a jInterface (it would say so) then you will want to be plugging it into your printer port, and setting that up under prefverences in Jkeys also.

make sure your printer port in your bios is enabled and set properly. try a different computer.

I had this problem and when I changed preferences, rebooted and set up again it worked fine. However , before I did this, I download earlier version of Jkeys that is already set up for parallel port and it works fine also. All I was doing was getting the Box Keys for several differnt irds. Hope this helps

I try to set up my quad jtag to work but it doesn't read anything. My IRD is 3900
it just has 0Xfffff , I did change it to my parallell port which XP resouce set at 0x3BC. Then plug in ird but nothing happen. I also remove topo pin 1 and 7 and ground. Nada..
Do i have to install the Tsop lock or connect the satelite signal in order to read from jtag.
Thanks in advance

did not have to do anything, but I am using an older laptop with 98 windows. I believe it is a better testing OS than XP. On the XP laptop the parallel port is not constant. There are threads to that effect. I understand there is a way to set the port so it wont change but I do not know how to do this. I have an XP laptop but I use it for everything but testing.
Sorry I could not be more help.

Go into my computer, control panel, performance & maintenance, system, system properties, hardware, device manager, ports, printer port, port settings, and i would try
never use interrupt and maybe check for legacy. Hope this helps. As I said, I never useXP for testing, so I am kinda in the dark also.

should I be grounding to a different spot?
Should be able to leave it there. (i use case screw). Check on the flash. believe there is only one for the 3900 and it should default for that one.

I am not sure what Jtag you have but make sure you have good voltage for VCC (internally or externally, depends on your JTAG). Use a multimeter to check for voltage and continuation.
Also, I find that one of the document I have mislabled the JTAG port. Unwink instruction is accurate at least for my 3700. This trivial but when you turn the IRD right side up, the pin configuration isn't the same as it was upside down (again, on my 3700).

I am also having trouble using my jtag. Trying to get keys off of a 3700. Using a quad mode jtag reader the kind with magnets and spring loaded pins. Could somebody please give me some information on this jtag reader. The instructions that came with it were real vague. Any help greatly appreaciated. I also have another receiver DP301, if I can manage to get the jkeys of off this one (DP301) can I use the card that came with the other receiver (3700)on this receiver? How does the DP301 stand up as far as easiness in testing compared to th 3700?
