Damaged 2700

I was afraid to try eprom lock so I took it to rat shack. Kid broke leg off eprom tried to fix it but no luck. Now won't turn on. Any one got any ideas? I have seen eprom chips for sale but unsure about it not coming on . Thanks

Try scraping/cutting some of the plastic/ceramic around the area of the broken leg on the EEPROM. You'll be able to expose enough of what's left of the leg to solder a wire to it.

The kid at Rat Shack tried to do that but no good. To test it I hooked it to tv but w hen I put the card in it went dark. Won't power up now. Screwed huh.

I'm surprised someone at Rat Shack would help you with modding the IRD! ;)

If you see a bit of metal on the IC, put a little flux on it, put the stripped end of the thin wire (wire wrap is great!) on top of the bit of metal, put hot soldering iron tip on top of the wire, then feed the solder to the point between the bare wire and the bit of metal on the IC. As long as a bit of metal is showing on the IC, you can solder to it.

Otherwise.... you are screwed.
