3800 problem

I got a 3800 that has been out of the stream for 2-3 years hooked up to old dave
lnb ,using plastic, All I get is acquiring sat signal .What else am I missing with this thing. Newbie to dish

It needs to update, You will need to Jtag it, Backup to tsop, The delete sa30 and restream it, Then it will work. BTW, The firmware now will ugrade to 3900.

Thanks. That was what I had arrived at , that it needed to up date ,I had downloaded the 3900 tsop files, but I did not want to proceed until confirmation.
Your answer will simplify the up date for me.
