New Receiver Install Help

Here's a poser. I removed a round dish used with a 420RE ird. I replaced it with an oval dish w/3 lnb and replaced the ird with a dtc 100 ird for hd tv with dave. I put a signal strength meter in the line to align the dish and get 95 on 101' and 93 on 110,119. When I take the signal meter out of the line and reconnect straight thru and check signal strength, I get 95 0n 101' and no signal strength on the others. Why?

Thanks pcwiz42. I got an el cheapo meter I've used with single lnb dtv and dish. Didn't know there was a special one for hd ird. I'll find a meter as soon as I get my vga to comp. cable. Thanks again.
